The Washington Metropolitan Association of Chinese Schools (WMACS) announced that it will

establish a 2006 Chinese Language and Culture Exploration Pilot Program for two area educators

who aspire to teach the Chinese language in local schools.

WMACS will provide an all-expense paid seven-day trip to Taiwan for two D.C.-Metro educators

who aspire to create Chinese language curricula at their own schools and further explore Chinese

culture. School principals or supervisors of foreign language programs from the District of

Columbia, Montgomery County, MD and Fairfax County, VA are welcome to apply.

The online application form is available at http://www.wmacs.org/

According to a 2005 College Board survey, 2,400 high schools across the country expressed

interest in establishing Chinese language programs. WMACS is the only Chinese school

association in the tri-state area that provides the local community with an opportunity to learn and

appreciate Chinese language and culture.
